Ingredients
1 cup butter, room temperature
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract (Alcohol-Free)
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups flour
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp salt
1 Tbsp red food coloring
2 Tbsp sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Mix in the eggs and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture.
6. Add red food coloring and mix until the dough is uniform in color.
7. In a small bowl, combine 2 Tbsp sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon for rolling.
8. Scoop dough into walnut-sized balls and roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
9. Place the cookies on an ungreased baking sheet, spaced 2 inches apart.
10. Bake for 8–10 minutes until edges are firm but centers remain soft.
11. Allow cookies to rest 5 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For extra soft cookies, consider adding an additional egg yolk.
Use gel or paste food coloring for a more vibrant red color.
