Description
A juicy pastrami burger layered with melted Tillamook American Cheese, warm Midamar Beef Pastrami, crisp fresh vegetables, and Thousand Island dressing. This recipe creates a bold and flavorful burger with toasted sesame buns and a rich combination of textures that come together in every bite.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
Salt and pepper
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 slices Tillamook American Cheese
12 ounces Midamar Beef Pastrami
4 Arnold Sesame Hamburger Buns or Dave’s Killer Bread Burger Buns or Pepperidge Farm Sesame Topped Buns
Shredded iceberg lettuce
Thinly sliced onions
Sliced tomatoes
Thousand Island dressing
Instructions
1. Shape the ground beef into four patties about four inches wide and up to three quarters of an inch thick and season lightly with salt and pepper.
2. Warm the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium high heat until it begins to shimmer.
3. Place the patties into the skillet and cook until a deep brown sear forms.
4. Flip each patty and let the other side cook briefly.
5. Top each patty with a slice of Tillamook American Cheese and a portion of Midamar Beef Pastrami.
6. Cover the skillet so the cheese melts and the pastrami warms through.
7. Toast the sesame buns until lightly golden to give them texture.
8. Spread Thousand Island dressing on the bottom bun to anchor the layers.
9. Place the patty with melted cheese and pastrami on the bun.
10. Add shredded iceberg lettuce, thin onions, and fresh tomato slices.
11. Close the burger with the top bun and serve immediately.
Notes
Keep the vegetables cold until assembling the burgers to add refreshing contrast to the warm patties.
Toasting the buns helps them hold their structure and adds great flavor.
Avoid pressing down on the patties while cooking to keep the juices inside.
Store leftover patties in a sealed container for up to two days and reheat gently in a covered skillet.
Keep vegetables in separate containers so they stay crisp until serving.
