Description

This Microwave Mug Cake chocolate recipe is a fast and satisfying dessert made with simple pantry ingredients. It delivers a moist, rich chocolate texture in just minutes using a microwave and a single mug, making it perfect for quick cravings and easy cleanup.

Ingredients

Self raising flour

Caster sugar

Cocoa powder

Medium egg

Milk

Vegetable oil or sunflower oil

Alcohol free vanilla flavor such as Simply Organic Alcohol Free Vanilla Flavor or Watkins Clear Vanilla Flavor

Chocolate chips or chopped nuts or raisins

Instructions

Add the flour, sugar, and cocoa powder to a large microwave safe mug and mix well until evenly combined

Crack the egg into the mug and stir gently to blend with the dry ingredients even if some dry mixture remains

Pour in the milk and oil, then add a few drops of alcohol free vanilla flavor and mix until the batter becomes smooth

Fold in the chocolate chips, nuts, or raisins if using and stir gently to distribute evenly

Place the mug in the center of the microwave and cook on high power until the cake rises and the top feels firm

Allow the mug cake to rest briefly before enjoying directly from the mug

Notes

Use the largest mug available to prevent overflow while cooking

Cooking time may vary depending on microwave strength so check early to avoid overcooking

For a softer center slightly undercook and allow the cake to finish setting while resting

Unsweetened almond milk or oat milk can be used in place of regular milk

Best enjoyed warm for optimal texture and flavor
