Description
A juicy Hawaiian Burger made with seasoned beef patties, grilled pineapple, Midamar Turkey Bacon, melty Tillamook Mozzarella, and a smooth teriyaki mayonnaise spread served on soft alcohol free onion rolls.
Ingredients
Mayonnaise
Teriyaki cooking sauce or marinade
Fresh pineapple peeled and cored
Lean ground beef
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
Midamar Turkey Bacon
Onion rolls such as Sara Lee Soft White Buns Nature’s Own Butter Buns or Ball Park Hamburger Buns
Tillamook Mozzarella Organic Valley Mozzarella or Cabot Mozzarella
Instructions
1. Mix the mayonnaise with part of the teriyaki cooking sauce until smooth and set aside.
2. Slice four rounds of pineapple about one quarter inch thick each.
3. Shape the ground beef into patties and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
4. Heat a grill pan or outdoor grill to medium high. Place the turkey bacon over indirect heat and the pineapple over direct heat.
5. Cook until the pineapple becomes golden and soft and the turkey bacon crisp and transfer to a baking sheet to keep warm in a low oven.
6. Warm the onion rolls in the oven until soft.
7. Place the beef patties over direct heat and cook until browned on one side then flip and continue cooking.
8. Brush the patties with the remaining teriyaki sauce add mozzarella on top and cover to melt the cheese.
9. Place each patty on the bottom half of a warmed roll. Add two slices of turkey bacon and one pineapple round.
10. Spoon the teriyaki mayonnaise into the pineapple center and top with the bun.
Notes
Use pineapple that is naturally sweet for the best balance of flavor.
Do not press down on the patties during cooking to preserve their juiciness.
Warm the buns gently so they stay soft and hold the fillings well.
Cook pineapple and turkey bacon separately so textures stay crisp and caramelized.
