Ginger Lemonade is a refreshing homemade drink made with fresh lemon juice and real ginger infused syrup. It delivers a bright citrus flavor balanced with gentle warmth from ginger, making it both thirst quenching and soothing. This recipe is simple, flexible, and perfect for everyday hydration without artificial ingredients.
Ingredients
Three quarters cup granulated sugar about one hundred fifty grams
One cup fresh water two hundred thirty seven milliliters
One medium fresh ginger root about two ounces thinly sliced
One cup freshly squeezed lemon juice about two hundred fifty milliliters
Four cups cold water about one liter
Ice cubes as needed
Fresh lemon slices for garnish optional
Fresh mint leaves for garnish optional
Instructions
Place a small saucepan over medium high heat and add the sugar and water, stir gently until the sugar fully dissolves
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then add the thinly sliced ginger and stir briefly
Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the ginger to steep as the syrup cools to room temperature
Cover and refrigerate the syrup until fully chilled, then strain out the ginger slices
Pour the fresh lemon juice into a large pitcher and add the cold water, stirring to combine
Add the chilled ginger syrup gradually, tasting until the desired balance is reached
Add ice cubes and garnish with lemon slices and mint if desired
Serve immediately while well chilled
Notes
Use fresh lemons for the best flavor and aroma, bottled juice does not provide the same brightness
Slice the ginger thinly to extract maximum flavor without bitterness
The sweetness level can be adjusted easily by adding more or less syrup
The ginger syrup can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator
Stir the lemonade before serving if it has been sitting, as natural separation may occur
