Ingredients
3 1/2 cups crispy chow mein noodles (about 140 g)
2 1/2 cups salted cocktail peanuts (about 375 g)
12 oz red candy melts (1 bag)
12 oz white candy melts (1 bag)
12 oz blue candy melts (1 bag)
3 tablespoons red white and blue sprinkles
Instructions
• Prepare a baking tray by lining it with wax paper or parchment paper
• Combine chow mein noodles and salted peanuts in a large mixing bowl and mix gently
• Divide the mixture evenly into three separate portions
• Place one portion into a bowl and set the others aside
• Melt one color of candy melts in a microwave safe bowl in 20 to 30 second intervals stirring between each until smooth
• Pour the melted candy over one portion of the mixture and gently fold until evenly coated
• Scoop tablespoon sized clusters and place them onto the prepared paper
• Immediately sprinkle with colored sprinkles before the coating sets
• Repeat the same process with the remaining two colors and portions
• Allow the treats to sit at room temperature for 30 to 45 minutes until fully set or refrigerate for 15 minutes
• Once hardened remove from paper and serve
Notes
Work with one color at a time to prevent the candy melts from hardening too quickly
If the candy coating becomes too thick add a small amount of coconut oil to smooth it out
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or refrigerate for longer freshness
Peanuts can be replaced with sunflower seeds or pretzels for a nut free option
Avoid overheating candy melts to prevent clumping or grainy texture
