Description

Cod with Lemon Ginger Sauce is a light yet flavorful seafood dish made with tender pan seared cod fillets, fresh lemon juice, smooth ginger juice, and a buttery citrus sauce. The balance of bright acidity, gentle spice, and rich texture makes this recipe ideal for quick dinners or elegant meals. It pairs beautifully with rice, vegetables, or salads and highlights the natural flavor of white fish.

Ingredients

Four firm white fish fillets about six inches long and one inch thick, preferably cod

Three tablespoons butter or ghee, melted

Two tablespoons ginger juice

Juice and zest from one medium lemon

One extra lemon cut into wedges for serving

One teaspoon kosher salt divided, plus more to taste

One teaspoon paprika

One teaspoon garlic powder

One teaspoon onion powder

Quarter teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Three tablespoons olive oil

Fresh basil or parsley finely chopped for garnish

Instructions

1.

2. Pat the fish fillets completely dry using paper towels on all sides

3. Mix melted butter or ghee with ginger juice, lemon juice, lemon zest, and half of the salt until smooth

4. In a separate bowl combine paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and remaining salt

5. Press the spice mixture evenly onto all sides of the fish fillets

6. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat until shimmering

7. Place two fillets in the pan without overcrowding and cook until golden and opaque on the first side

8. Flip the fish gently and drizzle lightly with the lemon ginger butter sauce while cooking

9. Cook until the fish is just firm and flakes easily

10. Transfer cooked fish to a plate and cover loosely to keep warm

11. Repeat the process with remaining fillets

12. Drizzle remaining sauce over the fish and finish with fresh herbs and lemon wedges

13.

Notes

Drying the fish thoroughly helps create a golden crust instead of steaming

Cod should be cooked just until opaque to maintain a tender and flaky texture

Ginger juice provides smooth flavor without fibrous texture

Butter creates richness while ghee adds a subtle nutty note

Fresh lemon zest enhances aroma and brightness in the sauce

Cook fish in batches to avoid lowering pan temperature
