Description

Cod with Lemon Dijon Mustard Sauce is a tender baked seafood dish featuring flaky cod fillets coated in a creamy, tangy lemon Dijon sauce. This recipe delivers bright citrus flavor balanced with rich butter and cream, making it perfect for an easy yet elegant meal that feels comforting and refined.

Ingredients

One pound cod fillets, fresh or properly thawed

One teaspoon garlic powder

Half teaspoon sea salt

Black pepper to taste

One third cup chopped green onions

One quarter cup heavy whipping cream

One tablespoon coarse Dijon mustard

Half cup butter, melted

One quarter cup fresh lemon juice

A small dash cayenne pepper

Fresh parsley for garnish

Lemon slices or wedges for serving

Instructions

Preheat the oven to three hundred seventy five degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a baking dish.

Place the cod fillets in a single layer in the baking dish and pat them dry with paper towels.

Season the cod evenly with sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder, then scatter the chopped green onions over the top.

In a microwave safe bowl, gently melt the butter until just liquid.

Stir the heavy whipping cream and Dijon mustard into the melted butter until smooth.

Add the lemon juice and cayenne pepper and mix until fully combined and creamy.

Pour the sauce evenly over the cod fillets, making sure each piece is well coated.

Place the dish on the center rack of the oven and bake until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.

Remove from the oven and allow the cod to rest briefly before serving.

Transfer to a serving platter, spoon the sauce over the fish, and garnish with fresh parsley and lemon slices.

Notes

Choose thick center cut cod fillets for the best texture and even cooking.

The sauce will appear thick before baking but will thin into a light, silky consistency as it cooks.

Avoid overbaking the cod to keep it tender and moist.

Fresh lemon juice is essential for the brightest flavor and should not be substituted with bottled juice.

Leftovers should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator and gently reheated to prevent the sauce from separating.
