Description
Juicy beef patties seasoned with a smoky spice blend and cooked in a hot cast iron skillet. These Classic BBQ Burgers Made Simple use a mix of beef chuck and beef sirloin for the perfect balance of flavor and tenderness, finished with soft alcohol free buns and fresh coleslaw.
Ingredients
12 ounces beef chuck, coarsely ground
12 ounces beef sirloin, coarsely ground
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cayenne
1/2 teaspoon coriander
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
2 teaspoons Crystal Worcestershire Sauce
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Hamburger buns such as Franz Organic, Nature’s Own, or Arnold Organic
Coleslaw optional
Potato chips optional
Instructions
Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat for 20 minutes
Mix the beef chuck and beef sirloin gently in a large bowl
Combine smoked paprika, brown sugar, cayenne, coriander, cumin, garlic powder, mustard powder, and onion powder in a small bowl
Sprinkle the spice blend over the beef and add Crystal Worcestershire Sauce, then fold gently to combine
Shape the mixture into four patties about three quarters of an inch thick and four inches wide, then season with salt and pepper
Place the patties in the hot skillet without pressing them down and cook until browned on both sides, about three and a half minutes per side for medium rare
Place the cooked patties on alcohol free buns and top with coleslaw, then serve with potato chips if desired
Notes
Use a blend of beef chuck and beef sirloin for balanced richness and clean flavor. Keep the meat cold before shaping to maintain structure and juiciness. A fully heated skillet ensures proper browning and a deep crust. Coleslaw adds a fresh contrast and can be adjusted for mild or bold flavor preferences. Store leftover patties in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days, or freeze raw or cooked patties for later use.
