Choose Dave’s Killer Bread Arnold or Nature’s Own hamburger buns and lightly toast them to prevent sogginess then spoon the hot cheesesteak filling onto the buns and serve immediately
For slow cooker preparation brown the ground beef onions peppers and mushrooms in a skillet then transfer to the slow cooker
Whisk the beef broth Crystal Worcestershire Sauce cornstarch salt black pepper and garlic powder and add the mixture to the slow cooker stirring to combine
Cook on low allowing flavors to deepen for several hours fifteen minutes before serving place the Tillamook Provolone Cheese slices on top cover and allow them to melt then stir gently before spooning onto toasted buns
Notes
Use ground beef with moderate fat content for juicy flavor without excess grease
Frozen sliced peppers and onions work well to save prep time and maintain good texture
Store leftover filling in airtight containers refrigerate for up to three days or freeze for up to two months dividing into portions for easy reheating
Reheat gently on the stovetop adding a splash of beef broth if the mixture seems dry and stir in a bit of fresh cheese at the end to restore creaminess
Keep buns separate until serving to prevent sogginess and toast them lightly before assembly
Optional variations include swapping green bell peppers for red or mixing cheeses such as Tillamook Mozzarella or Organic Valley Baby Swiss for a different melt profile
