Ingredients
1/2 cup unsalted butter (113g), room temperature
4 ounces cream cheese (113g), room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar (200g)
1 egg, room temperature
2 tsp vanilla extract (10mL)
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour (210g)
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
1. Whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder in a medium bowl and set aside.
2. Using a stand or hand mixer, cream the butter and cream cheese until smooth.
3. Add in the sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
4. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
5. Scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl, then mix one more time to combine evenly.
6. Add the dry ingredients and mix on low speed until just combined.
7. Use a spatula to scrape down the bowl and fold the dough together.
8. Cover and chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
9. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
10. Scoop out 2-tablespoon portions, roll into balls with damp hands, and place 2 inches apart.
11. Bake for 10 minutes or until edges are set and slightly golden.
12. Cool on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For best results, weigh your flour or spoon and level it in the measuring cup.
Chilling the dough helps reduce spread and enhances flavor.
Dampen your hands slightly when rolling sticky dough.
Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with melted white chocolate for decoration.
