Description

Celebrate the 4th of July with this vibrant red, white, and blue tie-dye cake and cupcakes! Fun, festive, and full of flavor, it’s a show-stopping dessert for any patriotic party.

Ingredients

White cake batter (sprinkle cake base, without sprinkles)

Red gel food coloring

Blue gel food coloring

Homemade vanilla buttercream frosting

Patriotic sprinkles

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and line with parchment paper.

2. Prepare cake batter, then divide evenly into 3 bowls.

3. Color one bowl red, one blue, and leave the third plain white.

4. Spoon batters into the pan in random layers to create a tie-dye effect.

5. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes. Loosely cover with foil and bake an additional 13–17 minutes.

6. Let cake cool completely on a wire rack.

7. Frost with vanilla buttercream once cooled.

8. Decorate with red, white, and blue sprinkles or toppings of your choice.

Notes

You can turn this into cupcakes by using a lined muffin pan and baking at 350°F for 18–20 minutes.

To make a layered cake, slice one cake in half or bake two layers using a doubled recipe.

For bolder color, always use gel-based food coloring.
