Description
A classic apple pie recipe made with tart Granny Smith apples, rich buttery filling, and a golden lattice crust. Perfect for holidays, weekends, or whenever you crave something cozy and delicious.
Ingredients
8 small Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
½ cup unsalted butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
½ cup white sugar
½ cup packed brown sugar
¼ cup water
1 (9 inch) double-crust pie pastry, thawed
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
2. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in flour to make a paste, cooking 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
3. Add white sugar, brown sugar, and water. Bring to a boil, then simmer on low for 3–5 minutes. Remove from heat.
4. Press one pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan. Cut the second crust into eight 1-inch strips.
5. Fill bottom crust with sliced apples, forming a slight mound.
6. Lay four strips vertically, spacing evenly. Fold back the 1st and 3rd. Place a horizontal strip, then unfold.
7. Repeat with remaining strips to create a lattice.
8. Slowly pour the sugar-butter mixture over the lattice. Brush some over the strips.
9. Bake at 425°F for 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake 35–45 minutes more.
10. Cool at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
Top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for a classic touch.
Pair with sharp Cheddar cheese for a savory contrast.
Let pie cool before slicing for best texture.
